This is the first tech demo for my experimental 3D renderer qemical flood. Currently it features 3 models: The Ducc, The Planet and The Little Guy.

The purpose of the project is exploring the potential of alternative approaches for achieving beautiful aesthetics, efficiency of asset creation and high real-time performance of smooth and detailed objects.

qemical flood is based on raymarching of parametric surfaces and the meshes presented here do not include polygons, voxels or even SDFs.

Requirements:

  • 64 bit Linux or Windows
  • graphics drivers providing OpenGL 3.3 support

The controls:

  • Q and E — switch between models
  • Ctrl+A and D — rotate the camera around the center
  • W A S D — move the camera around
  • R F — move the camera up and down
  • Esc — exit

You can pass "-res WxH" as a launch parameter to qsm (the game engine) to run it in a window with a specific resolution, e.g.

qsm -res 1280x720

It's in a far humbler state than I'd have liked to debut it in but I'm in need of financial support and I think it's best to eliminate any doubt the project is real.
